With the latest update, Telegram users can join in group video calls with up to 1000 users. Furthermore, the app now also supports the screen sharing feature.
Since Telegram cracked the 500 million user mark in January, the developers behind Messenger have been releasing one new feature update after another. For example, a new payment feature was released in April. Then animated backgrounds and group video calls were added in June. The latter has now been improved again in a new update.
In the future, you can take part in a video call with up to 1000 people at the same time. In addition, the existing video messages have been revised. These have a higher resolution and can be enlarged by clicking on them. You can now fast forward or rewind and pause them.
At the same time, users have the option of accelerating or slowing down the playback speed of normal videos to 0.5, 1.5 or 2 times the speed. Under Android, you are even able to slow down the speed to 0.2 times.
Furthermore, the period has been extended to one month, after which sent messages are automatically deleted. Last but not least, there are improvements to the drawing function in pictures, a new in-app camera on iOS and a new pin code animation when the app is unlocked.
Overall, Telegram now has a feature set that goes far beyond that of the major competition from Whatsapp. This should help the app to further increase its user numbers in the future.
