Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 foldable smartphone was unveiled along with Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 at the Galaxy Unpacked event. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 comes with an S Pen support, which is a first in the company’s folding phone lineup. The phone feature a water-resistant IPX8 construction comprised of Samsung’s Armor Aluminum and has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

In the United States, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is priced at $1,799.99 (about Rs. 1,33,600). The phone will be available in Phantom Black, Phantom Green, and Phantom Silver colour schemes, with storage combinations ranging from 12GB + 256GB to 12GB + 512GB.
Samsung has collaborated with American fashion designer Thom Browne to produce the Galaxy Z Fold 3 Thom Browne Edition, which will be available for pre-order in certain regions with limited quantities. At the time of publication, no pricing information for the limited edition models was available.

It has a 7.6-inch primary QXGA+ (2,208×1,768 pixel) Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, an aspect ratio of 22.5:18, and pixel density of 374ppi. The phone also sports a 6.2-inch HD+ (832×2,268 pixel) Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 24.5:9 aspect ratio, and 387ppi pixel density as a cover screen.
The new model’s cover screen has also been improved, with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is powered by Android 11 with the One UI on top.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is powered by a 5nm octa-core SoC with a maximum clock speed of 2.84GHz.
Samsung has yet to disclose the precise name of the SoC, however, it is anticipated to be Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 comes equipped with 12GB of RAM.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 features a triple back camera arrangement that appears to be the same as that found on the Galaxy Z Fold 2 last year.
A 12-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 wide-angle lens and optical image stabilisation (OIS), a 12-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, and a 12-megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens with dual OIS support and up to 2x optical zoom with HDR10+ recording from the camera configuration.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 also has a 10-megapixel camera on the back for selfies and video conferencing. It is combined with an f/2.2 lens having an 80-degree field-of-view.
Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 features an under-display camera on top of its folding screen.
This is one of the foldable phone’s competitive advantages, and it is intended to provide a full-screen experience with no distractions. The camera has a 4-megapixel resolution and a top-mounted f/1.8 lens.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 has UFS 3.1 storage capacities of 256GB and 512GB. 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, Ultra-Wideband (UWB), and a USB Type-C connector are among the connectivity choices. The phone also has a fingerprint sensor on the side.
The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 comes with a 4,400mAh dual-cell battery that supports wireless and cable charging as well as reverse wireless charging. The battery also supports 25W fast charging using suitable chargers.
When folded, the phone measures 67.1×158.2x16mm and 128.1×158.2×6.4mm when unfolded. It weighs 271 grams, which is 11 grammes less than the 282 grams of the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
In conjunction with Wacom, Samsung has incorporated S Pen support to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and produced two new S Pen versions. These are known as the S Pen Fold Edition and S Pen Pro. The former is exclusive to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and does not support Bluetooth. It recognises Air Command motions and includes a Pro-tip.
The latter is Bluetooth-enabled and compatible with all Samsung devices that accept the S Pen. The S Pen Pro supports Air Command as well as Air Actions and has a USB charging port.
