German company Leica, known for manufacturing cameras and optical lenses has announced its own smartphone the Leitz Phone 1. The phone is a rebranded version of the Sharp Aquos R6 and comes with a 20MP camera with a large 1-inch sensor and other high-end features. Although the USP of this phone is obviously the camera and overall aesthetics.
Leitz Phone 1 price and specifications
Leitz Phone 1 was launched as a Softbank exclusive, so it is now only available in Japan. There’s a significant chance it’ll stay exclusive and thus never be released globally. It is only offered in one variant and costs JPY 187,920. (around Rs 1.25 lakh).
The phone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, 12GB RAM, 256GB storage. It features a 6.6-inch IGZO OLED display with 2,730 x 1,260-pixel screen resolution and a 120Hz variable refresh rate. The phone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery and has an IP68 durability rating. It runs on stock Android 11.
The Leitz Phone 1 has only one, 20MP camera with a large 1-inch sensor and f/1.9 lens. Leica has also announced that the phone will include a special ‘Leitz Looks’ mode that will assist the phone camera in producing black and white levels that are consistent with Leica’s famed monochrome standards. It also boasts a front-facing camera with a 12.6MP image sensor.
