Google released an update for the Android version of Chrome
New update makes Chrome browser 13 per cent faster
Google has released a new update for its Chrome browser (Google Chrome) that allows users to view the preview of a web page before opening it.
This feature has arrived on the Android version of Chrome. That means, now even without opening a page, users will be able to know how the page looks like. This feature will also save data over time.
How does the new feature work?
According to 9to5Google’s report, the preview page option will appear when the user long presses on a link. This option will be present between open in incognito mode and copy link.
As the name itself suggests, this feature will be used to show a preview of a web page. The preview will also indicate the name of the website and the domain. A separate button is also available to open the page in a new tab.
After viewing the preview, you have to press the X button on the top-right to close it. Apart from this, you can also swipe down. This new feature is available on Chrome’s latest Android version 89.
Google was working on this feature for the last two years. The company started testing it in 2018. It is not known when this feature will arrive on the iOS platform.
Chrome’s Android app has also improved memory management with the latest updates, which will make Chrome run 13 per cent faster.
Now Freeze-dried tabs (tabs that were previously open) will be saved but will only take up as much space as a screenshot. Because of this, whenever you open Chrome again, the older tabs will open instantly.
