Facebook has rolled new features for the Facebook Messenger app. The features include new chat themes, a quick reply bar, QR codes and payment links. The update will be available for both the Android and iOS apps.
Facebook stated that the QR code and payment link options are currently being rolling out in the United States. Instagram will also get a new theme as Facebook Messenger.
Facebook has announced the new features on its blog. The messaging app has been updated with three new themes in honour of Olivia Rodrigo, Fast & Furious 9 (F9), and World Oceans Day.
Olivia Rodrigo’s theme is based on her debut album, Sour, which was debuted on May 21. The F9 theme was released to mark the Fast and Furious franchise’s 20th anniversary.
The theme for World Oceans Day, which is observed on June 8, apparently allows you to virtually explore the world’s oceans while also encouraging sustainability.
Users in the United States can now send and receive money through Facebook Pay. Users can make these transactions with anyone, even if they are not connected on Facebook.
Facebook Messenger now gets QR code and payment links
By heading to Settings > Facebook Pay, users can view their payment links or QR code. They can then share the payment links with their friends or show the QR code to transfer and receive money from them.
In Messenger, a quick reply bar has been placed at the bottom of the media viewer. Users can respond to the image or video while seeing it in full-screen mode, without having to return to the main chat to do so. Users can then return to the main chatbox by swiping up on the media.
