The clubhouse has launched a payments feature for its creators. According to Clubhouse, all members will be able to send payments to creators through the platform.
The payment feature will currently be available only to a select test group of creators. It will be rolled out to other users in the coming days.
Users can send money to Clubhouse creators who have activated the Send Money option. Stripe, the company’s payment processing partner, would charge a nominal card processing fee.
However, the audio chat company will not take any commission or cut from any payments. Total payment will be credited to the creator’s account.
To pay a Clubhouse creator who can accept payments, go to their profile, then tap the “Send Money” button, and then enter the amount you want to send them. The clubhouse will ask you to add a credit or debit card the first time you pay anyone.
At present clubhouse is available only on the iOS platform. It will soon available on Android device as well. The app’s global user base skyrocketed after Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev had a surprise conversation on the platform.
The clubhouse has faced criticism in the year since its launch for allegations of misogyny, anti-Semitism, and COVID-19 disinformation on the platform.
The Clubhouse allows people to meet in audio chatrooms to discuss various subjects. New users can join the clubhouse only after they get an invitation from current users.
